![]() Locals go there to eat and drink, and play keno on payday. Poker is very popular, and even small towns will have one or two old-timey saloons where you can play poker after 8 or 9 o'clock.īasically, those "casinos" you see along the highway are greasy spoons that have a few slot machines, and in the county, a liquor license. There is no gambling in montana where you play against the dealer, even on our 7 Indian reservations. I've noticed recently that "casinos" have been popping up in struggling strip malls, with 5 or 10 machines and a beer and wine license. Additionally, liquor licenses are really hard to get inside incorporated towns (easy in the county), but beer and wine licenses are easy. Basically the story is, it's very easy to get a license for slot machines in montana, so every place that's trying to boost their revenue, including lots of gas stations, at least outside the city limits, will have at least one or two slot machines. I'm from montana and even i wonder sometimes. What is the story with these little casinos? Who goes to them? What are they like?Excellent question. ![]() Hey, so I was driving through Montana and kept seeing these little casinos, some of them appeared to be in gas stations?
